Contaminated Land Assessment and Topsoil Analysis

Project Objectives:
- Analysis of the original site soils to determine the level of contamination
- Implement a cost effective disposal methods
- Analysis and classification of topsoil replacements to be used for site
- landscaping and reinstatement.
How Aardvark Delivered:
- The re-development of a former industrial site for housing in Haselbury
- Plucknett discovered topsoil with high arsenic content that was in need of removal and replacement with uncontaminated soils.
- Aardvark took a series of samples from the development and from the potential topsoils replacements.
- 3rd part laboratory analysis showed that the arsenic levels in the development soils were indeed elevated, but a detailed risk assessment and waste acceptance criteria provided robust justification to allow the dispatch of non hazardous landfill.
- Aardvark provided technical staff for data gathering and soil brokering as well as in house specialist contaminated land assessment.
