Aardvark project
Contaminated Land Investigation
| Location: Towcester, UK |
Client: Ecomag SRL
|
| Date: August 2007 |
Sector: Environment |

Project Objectives
- To sample and collect material from site for chemical analysis;
- To identify any high level of contaminants;
- To advise client on remediation strategy.
Delivery
- Aardvark EM Ltd was commissioned by Ecomag to undertake a Phase II Site Investigation to provide an updated assessment of potential contamination and recommendations for further action.
- Sample tubes were driven into the site using a terrier rig in 3 points across the site. The sample points were located based on the previous site investigation results.
- At each sample point, samples comprising undisturbed soil horizons were recovered. All samples were sent for analysis at an independent accredited laboratory and analysed for VOC’s and SVOC’s.
- Gas measurements were also recorded for each borehole using a handheld Photo Ionisation Detector.
- The results were analysed using the SNIFFER model, to establish if they were above background threshold levels.
- The source-pathway-receptor model was used to identify the existence of a significant pollution linkage and the need for remediation of the site.
