Aardvark project
Water Quality Survey
| Location: Mullion Harbour, Cornwall | Client: Envireau/National Trust |
| Date: November 2004 | Sector: Water and Environment |

Project Objectives:
- To design and execute a sampling strategy to collect water flowing underneath the harbour complex. To test an erosion pathway.
- To provide onsite analysis of conductivity pH and a volume assessment
- Liaise with client and remediation teams.
How Aardvark Delivered:
- Mullion Harbour located on the south tip of the lizard Peninsular. The structure is partially failing thought to be due to a combination of physical and chemical damage caused by underground water flow and wave impact at the base of the structure.
- Aardvark was approached by the National Trust to determine the causes using a micro boring rig. The team developed a sampling strategy to take into account the harsh site conditions and collected samples along the line of the harbour wall despite time constraints of tides and gathering storm conditions.
- Samples were tested on site and a summary report was produced for the client detailing the results of the water analysis outlining the likely impacts of the findings related to the geology of the harbour.
